Power trim problems, NEED HELP PLEASE!!

I have a 50hp Mercury OB with power trim. The power trim will trim the motor up with no problems, but when I push the button to go down the power trim does not go down. Once it started to go down then stopped. I put it in full trim to check the oil level and it seems to be full, oil comes out of the plug when I removed the plug. Power if fully charged, but does not react when switch is used on the motor housing or on the throttle. Not sure what to look a next or try next.

check the relays on the motor theres only two one up one down

To check them you can swap them around. If your problem flips(goes down but not up), you should buy a new relay for down.

if the motor spins but the system does not lower then it is a hydraulic problem. this problem is common on 199x trim systems if the manual release has been overtightened. There is not an easy fix. The system needs to be completely broken down and all shards of plastic extracted. be careful not to score aluminum or it can run into $300+ in parts. Hopefully it is just a relay instead. You can buy trim relays on iboats, ebay, google, or amazon for $2-$5 each. They are common as dirt and easy to install.

He said in his post that the system "doesn't react". I took that as no noise. If you hear a squealing and no movement, then go with what RRit says.

is the pump spinning when you try to lower the engine? if the pump isn't turning it's probably the "down" solenoid...BUT if the pump is operating when you it the Down switch it's in the hydraulics...what year model is your motor?
