I have an old Merc 700 70HP engine with a first generation twin cylinder power trim. Would anyone know which relay is needed for this power trim. Motor runs going up but not down. Checked the switch and it is working. I can't seem to find any info on it. Thanks in advance.

That PTT motor will usually have 3 wires (blue, green. black) a solenoid or maybe 2 solenoids, and no relays. Some had only one solenoid for up and the green wire for "Down trim" was wired directly to the PTT switch.

So take a look at your PTT unit. See if it has one or two solenoids. Jumper +12VDC to the green wire to the PTT motor. If the motor doesn't run, it may be at fault.

Thanks very much for the advice. I will check it out on the weekend and see what I can do with it.
