Power Trim Stopped Working or Stuck?

I pulled my 1981 SeaRay SRV 225 with a Mercruiser 260 out of the water after a full day of boating and trimmed the sterndrive all the way up. When I got to the wash and pushed the down button it didnt' move. The hydraulic motor was making noise like usual but nothing was happening. The sterndrive # is 5924220 in case that helps. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

1.check the oil

2. put some grease on the rams and get a BIG friend to help it down while you run the pump

3.there is a coupling in the pump that could fail ?

Thanks for the advice, but where is the oil that needs to be checked?

In the trim pump. My drive is a 260 also. My pump is a prestolite. There are 2 screws on the side of the pump. The one on the corner with the big slot for a straight screwdriver is the reservoir. The smaller one is the vent which should be open 2 turns. Only fill your reservoir with the drive down. Prestolite service manual
