Started out normal day yesterday. Got to the lake pushed the boat out in the water (shallow), parked the truck. Pushed off the shore and jumped in. I hit the trim button to lower the motor down. Motor proceeds to go down. I release the switch at the appropriate time, but the hydraulic pump stays on! It didnt stop till I disconnected the leads at the battery.
Basically, the trim is stuck in the down position. I am 100% certain the issue is not the switch. I unplugged the switch and it still wants to go down. Tried reversing the power leads to and still goes down. Tried acutuating the second soleniod but never got it to work. Ended up unbolting the trim cylinders so I could get the boat out of the water. Thank goodness it was beautiful weather last night.
Question. I am guessing that the one or both of the soleniods are bad. Is the correct? Other advice would be helpful. This is my first boat and I am getting into this boating thing. Never had a boat growing up but it is quite fun! The boat is a 81' Champion bass boat 15.5' length with a 115 mercury outboard.
