My Trim Works Perfect Going Up But When You Try Down It Moves About 1/4 Inch And Then Trim Motor Sounds Like It Is Labouring And Motor Won't Go Down. I Use Manual Release Valve And Motor Comes Down And Trim Again Works Perfect Going Up. Then All Over Again. Fluid Is New And Full And New O-rins On Most Fittings. What The Heck???

Re: Power Trim/tilt Issue

There are internal valves within the TNT assembly that allow/prevent the flow of fluid to raise/lower/stabilize the outboard. One of these sounds blocked. They can be a bit of a bugger to diagnose.

To start, what outboard are we talking about here?

Re: Power Trim/tilt Issue

I had a similar problem once on my 1988 60hp Johnson. I raised the motor all the way up on a cool day, then it got quite a bit warmer the next day. After doing just as you have tried, I decided that it must be the heat and pressure buildup causing a valve to stick( I work with complicated hydrualics everyday). I sprayed the t&t unit down with cold water for a few minutes then it went to working correctly. Since then I never leave one all the way up.
