1991 Evinrude 60 HP TE60TLEIB Outboard

Hit a log the other day at slow speed, I raised the motor to check for damage and now it won?t go back down.
The hydraulic pump motor runs continually unless I turn the battery off.
As soon as I turn the battery back on, the pump runs and outboard kind of lifts up.
If I hit the switch to lower it, the pump stops completely, but after about 2 minutes no matter what I do the pump runs.
Boat is still in the water so I hope it?s something I can do without pulling the boat out.

if hitting a log and trim running on its own are related ... then it will be a relay.

Re: Power Trim/tilt stuck up, 60hp

yep sounds like s tuck relay.
on the side of the engine is their 2 relays (square black boxes about 1 inch and bit square) ?
if so just take one out at a time and see if the motor stops spinning.
take note of what one and put the other one in its place and see if it still does it.
to get it back down just usethe good one and then go buy another one, once these get that bad they
will just keep doing it.
no point in trying to clean the things insides, they are cheap enough to replace.

Re: FIXED..Power Trim/tilt stuck up, 60hp

Wanted to say THANKS for the help.:
Relays fixed the problem..
I was Worried at first, with the motor tilted all the way up, I couldn?t get the cover all the way off.
I lifted the cover as far as I could, looked around and spotted the 2 replays, swapped them out and went fishing.
