Hi have 1976 Mercury 1500 (150HP) outboard.
Would like to know operation of power trim.
Currently motor just whines away and does nothing in either direction even when turning lock and engage knob either way.
I suspect low on oil how does one top up the oil, what type of oil is ised, where is the filler located, and does one have to bleed after being low and or adding oil?
Thanks

Re: Power trim

Fill is the stainless or aluminum slotted screw on upper right of pump/resevoir assembly. Use 5W30 motor oil, unless someone has previously filled with auto trans fluid.

You will need to bleed the trim cylinders. I posted the procedure several times. You might do a search for it.

Re: Power trim

Hi I noticed that small screw and soft of figured that was it. Apparently someone may have used hydraulic jack oil as there is a plastic bottle on the boat with a flip up squirt nozzle would this be appropriate to use other wise how would one drain and refill eith 5W30?
Thanks and I'll have to locate that thread on the bleeding procedure.
