Ok i posted a bit back about power. i have found a 2001 javelin 19 f/s max power rating of 175 hp it has a 150 hp on it. I know that is in the 70% range of min power. with me having to move so much weight will that be enough motor on the back of the boat.

thanks guys and gals.

What do you want to do with the boat? 150 hp on a 19' will probably boogie pretty fast! You'll never catch a fish at 40 mph.

Remember when the max on the B.A.S.S. circuit was 150HP? They seemed to do OK...;)

Re: power

I would think that you will have plenty of power. I would think that boat would run in the High 40's to low 50's depending on the prop. I always wondered why the bass boats have such High HP motors and Was told it was so they could fish up until the last possible minute and still get back by the time limit. My former neighbor had a 20ft Gambler with a 300 merc on it. He took me down the lake early one morning and we go up to 90mph GPS speed. I begged him to take me back to the dock too fast for me. He was the one that told me about the fish to the last possible minute.

That 150 will move plenty of weight on that boat. You could bring along a couple friends at 200lbs each and still cruise at a respectable speed.

Your best bet would be to take it for a water test with yourself, the wife and the seller. That will tell you exactly how it's going to perform.

Sounds good to me. You are around the 85% max HP mark.
