Hello all. 1954 evinrude 7.5 I have learned here all that i need to know about tearing it down and putting it back together. Firstly got her running, and needed to hit the brass ring under the magneto plate to stabalize it due to too much play. I installed a new impeller over the weekend, and blew a welch plug out of the powerhead when the water started to flow.. (thanks wbeaton for that advice ;) And after starting with the new plug installed, no water flow..Took the power head off again, and checked impeller, was fine, made sure cooling hose was lined up.. It was, put it back together and ran it a bit with great flow.( after re-tightning that welch plug) Then, i turned my back for 5 seconds, and it stopped flowing again. I am sure there is no blockage anywhere from the powerhead down, so i am thinking the powerhead itself must be clogged. Is there an easy way to do this?.. IE can i just hit it with carb cleaner to break the junk up, or is that a terrible idea. ..
