Powerhead gasket

About to put the powerhead back on the main housing. I have a new gasket. Does the powerhead gasket require any sealant? 1959 Evinrude.

Thinking about it more if your mating surfaces are pitted in anyway it wouldn’t hurt

A 1959 10 HP------Have you checked for loose wrist pins on that motor ?-------A thin smear of Permatex aviation is ok.

Loose wrist pins were an issue up until 1961 when they made a HUGE improvement.---From bushing to a needle bearing.-----Went to the same wrist pin as used on a 4 cylinder 125 HP up to 1972-----That likely will never wear out on a 10 HP motor.
