powerhead interchange

I have a 1987 to 1989 evinrude 225 v6 and i am curious about what other sizes and year models i may be able to put this engine on if i get a different midsection and lower unit? Thanks

The 1987-88 was a small bore 2.7L engine and the 1989 was a 3.0L. It will fit a range of engines but you have to be careful with the adapter plate as a 1987 will only fit a 87 as the water plate and passage are different.....

I spoke with a guy today that seemed to think it was an 87 and he also said that it should interchange with most sizes over 70 fairly simple. I have trim problems and it is looking that it may be cheaper to get a blown engine or a different lower and mid section and use my powerhead. I hope this all comes into play very soon as I am ready for these issues to go away.
