My sister n law Susie Ramsey is having surgery tomorrow on 2 ruptured vertabrae in her neck. This surgery was scheduled in a matter of 2 or 3 days after her visit with her doctor.

It was said by the doctor that the injury most likely occurred when she flipped her SUV a couple of years ago but it was finally triggered or noticed after an incident that happened the other day believe it or not.

She has had brain surgery in the past, she had a tumor and putuitary gland removed. She has also battled constant illness, in and out of the hospital because of pneumonia and other reasons. She also gets motion sickness when driving or even riding up and down a mountain.

They are overwhelmed in hospital bills from just her visits alone, that's not including the other members of the family. All of her episodes with illness really has taken a toll on my brother and my young nieces 11 and 16 years old. It would be nice to see her health improve.

Any sentence that includes the words surgery and vertabrae scares me.

Re: Prayer Request

You know you have our prayers from down here in the Nations. God seems to know what He is about to do and multiple miracles of healing finances as well as healing bodies are just as easy for Him.

Sweat not, my friend! He wants us to have good gifts and I can not think of any better than a healed back.

Keep us posted. My own saga gets better each day, just not at the speed I would wish.

Re: Prayer Request

I checked in with them at the hospital, I thought she would already be under the knife but she is still waiting to be brought back for surgery. I told my mother to tell her that I sent out a prayer request and where I posted it. I may go down and join them but it is already crowded in the room from what I hear, even though the weather is pretty nasty out there, no snow just rain.

Thanks guys, keep the prayers coming.

Re: Prayer Request

Update.

She pulled through the surgery alright. They only had to do one vertabrae, they left the other alone. They did not do a bone graft, instead they used titanium in its place. The doctor said they are past having to do a bone graft now , if I heard that right. Wish they were able to avoid a bone graft on me back then. I imagine they still have to use bone grafts for certain situations still.

Sense the surgery was only on the one instead of two it went pretty quick. I spent most of the afternoon with her and the family. She doesn't have any limitations as far as what she can eat, she was even able to get up when nature called, and make her way to the bathroom with help.

The doc said there is a very little chance of a blood clot to show up. If one was to show they would half to open her neck back up. They have her on certain special splints that she will have to wear on her legs, they have air ran to them, couldn't tell ya what that device is called but it's to do with circulation most likely.

If things go good she should be able to go home tomorrow. I imagine she is in alot of pain and that the worst of it is yet to come tomorrow.

Thanks so much guys.

Re: Prayer Request

That's good news. Thank you for the update.

Get her a few magazines, a good book, new batteries in her remote control and make sure she listens to the doctor's orders of what to do and what not to do.

Now she is a book worm, knowing her she might be in the middle of a book, once she gets home she can use the recovery time to read a few more pages. I have a feeling she'll have no choice but to follow the doctor's orders, plus she use to be a nurse so she should know better :). She had a firm grip on the remote there in the hospital room as well :).

That is so cool Wildmaninal! It is great to hear the good news. We will still keep y'all in our prayers until complete healing is done. Thanks are being offered up for another bright spot in our lives.

Yeah, the air splints on the legs are a minor inconvenience, especially when going to the head. It helps reduce blood clots though and you don't have to wear them long. I doubt that she will be sent home with them. Just tell her people spend big bucks in a spa to "slim their thighs" with them and to think of all the bandage tape ripping out her hair as a "wax job"!

EC...Man I don't know what to say. I am sitting here in tears thinking of what you are having to go through, which I can't even imagine what all you've had to endure or what you are going through, yet you remain so positive and seem strong willed.

God bless you and your family.

Thank you for praying for us as well and I'll continue to pray for you.

P.S. Time for some fresh air, gotta step out side!!!:(

Re: Prayer Request

She's home. My mother spent the night at the hospital, my brother needed to go back home and tend to his daughters.

She won't be able to return to work for 3 weeks if not longer, we all know how that goes, just depends on when the doctor sees it fit for her to return.

She definitely can't drive, not supposed to ride any vehicle, if she was to ride she does half to wear her neck brace. She definitly doesn't need to be riding in that rough riding (rides like an Ox wagon) Mitsubishi SUV of hers, hopefully my brother drove his car instead. I imagine she'll half to wear her neck brace durring her sleep to, haven't heard about that.

I wondered if she would need my walking cane to help her get around but by the way my mother talked she shouldn't need it. I only keep it for times when I have severe pain in my foot etc etc, I purchased it when I had an infection in my bad foot.

Now the only thing we need is for her to recover without any defects, accidents (don't need her to fall), blood clots, etc etc.

LT and BB thank you. Thanks once again everybody.
