I gather from reading the posts on year, Nissans' serial numbers do not correspond to year on pre-92 models. This is probably why the only repair manuals I can find are 1992-on.

I have a NS70A Ser 360I-12728 that came on a 1988 Grumman Pontoon (Motor is probably 88 but not for shure). Does anyone have an idea for a shop manual for this nice little motor?

Any Nissan or Tohatsu dealer can sell you a factory manual for your engine.

(Even though Elvin can't promote this, I will.)

Or you can go to www.internetoutboards.com and order a factory service manual. I have found some guy named Elvin to be outstanding. d:)

Re: Pre-92 NS70A

I emailed Nissan Marine about an owner's manual. The responded the next morning and told me to download the corresponding manual from the Tohatsu site because they no longer had the Nissan version.

That name "Elvin" sounds familiar in this forum. I went to internetoutboards.com and found "SERVMAN2S70A - Factory Service Manual, 2-STK, 70 A Model".

Does anyone know if this is the right one?:;)

Year of manufacture is unimportant. Precise model and serial number is the determining factor. These serial numbers are exactly that, "serial". (i.e. 1 was made before 2, before 3, etc.) You can inquire of http://www.nissanmarine.com/contact.html and they can probably give you the year of manufacture, should you be that curious. At this age, condition -- not how old -- is everything.

You can DL an owner's manual from their website at http://www.nissanmarine.com/tech_talk/owners_manuals.html

The Factory service manual is available from any Nissan/Tohatsu dealer, even me. PLEASE don't bother with an aftermarket "doorstop/fireplace tinder", "one manual fits all" service manual.
