Re: pre-alpha gimble bearing

some of the new gimble bearings are non-serviceable, i.e. no grease hole - i've never installed a sierra brand bearing so i can't speak as to how/where the hole may or may not be

on older style, greaseable OEM bearings the hole is opposite the "dimple" on the face of the outer race of the bearing, you need to rotate the interference ring to line it up properly, then you must install the bearing with the hole lined up with the grease port in the gimble housing

the zirc on top of the gimble housing is for the upper steering/swivel shaft, not the bearing

as far as shifting you should start another thread regarding that issue, too many problems in one thread gets confusing and overwhelming

"How pre is this pre-alpha? may not have a grease fitting, may need to install it with the slots aft to remove it and grease it manually or install the perma-lube one from merc.

Re: pre-alpha gimble bearing

should be a grease nipple which is in about the 4 o'clock position on the starbord side.if u cant locate it you may have to pull your gimbal out again as the bearing has to have the grease hole in about the same position so it fills it.you should have known this as its stated in the manual and you would or should have noticed the grease hole.you have to know where it is and you may have missed a washer out which is preventing you from engaging reverse if you split the drive.if you didnt split the drive the cable or fork may have not been set or u bent the fork on assembling.sort the bearing and grease first and see it fill the bearing before putting drive back on.
