You are not being clear with what you are asking. Use service manual #2 which includes repair and diag of the trim/tilt pump. To my knowledge the top motor cap and commutator plate is the only thing serviceble. If you end up getting into the pump housing, you my consider replacement.

Re: pre alphia sterndrive mercruiser tilt & trim valve body
I need a link to the service manual 2 if possible, thanks ..Its the gear assembly diagram I need for a 67. Took it all apart & cleaned old oil & sludge. I have another same style maybe a little newer that I just removed the reservoir from the gear & valve assembly only & cleaned put it back together & running the pump motor out of the boat in a container still had sludge & was only spitting air & milky oil in the up,nothing from the down while electric motor functioning properly.
So it has to be inside the gear & valve assy. Right?
I believe the one that is apart would work if reassembled correctly. Tiny check ball seems to be in place now I have 2 check balls left which I believe rests on springs one large & one a little smaller.
I have about a 50-50 chance on getting the check balls right the first time almost guaranteed the 2nd.lol Thanks again !

The link for #2 is there. That valve body was rendered NON-servicable by prestolite when they started using it. The manual has nothing but a view of fasteners. Then reassembly of different components.

Re: pre alphia sterndrive mercruiser tilt & trim valve body
I appreciate the help obtained here! Took Pete's advice & purchased a used valve body & gear assembly & pumps pumping as it should.
I will now address the reason I believe the water got into the pump in the first place .
I suspect the trim arms ,one or both possibly leaking its the only way I can see it happening.
Trying to avoid a short life for this fix.
