Thanks to everyone on this site for all the super knowledge they are sharing!
im just about to re-fit my 68 sea ray 19 foot I/O with transom and stringers'
just a few questions i cant seem to find direct answers to.
1. do I attach the new stringers directially to the floor making sure of total contact between the hull and new wood stringers?, (of course laying the new stringers on a new mat of glass)
or leave a small gap in places, (bow area )
2. also, would it a good idea to put thin rubber (closed cell, like tire tube rubber) between the hull and srtingers to keep the vibration and noise levels down? as well as putting it between the underside of the floor and on the top of the stringers?
noise level is one of the major considerations in this re fit.
i dont want to hear a sound from the motor or feel any vibration at all.
3. should i make small "water channels" in the pockets so if water does get in there, (the foam area) it can drain into the bildge?
I keep reading and learning here.
the demolision starts on the first of the month.(interior, carpet and such)
the 4.3 merc comes out nov 15. grinding starts on the 18th.
cheers!
