prep powerhead for macnine shop

150 hp force rebuilding, im cleaning all gasket materials and all the carbon i can see without splitting the crank case, is there anything else i should do before i send to the machine shop, they will do any machineing and install bearings and pistons and all.

Remove any studs or other parts that might hinder or cost you more money for them to remove to work on the block.<br /><br />TMD

Hi Dave ! If its a boat machine shop they will most likley do enything you are willing to pay for . Just make sure that all surfaces are replaned including your head and block and lower end,exhaust manifold surfaces . If they are boring block remove intake covers and exhaust manifold and recirculator covers . I also had them glass bead to clean block and exhaust manifold and head . If you took it this far you can save a lot of money by doing most of it yourself except mabe pressing the pistons onto the connection rods, boring and resurfacing . Dont forget about main bearing needs to be pressed on crank if it needs to be replaced . Label everthing from where it once came from ! Good luck Jim !
