Prepping for gel coat

On the last stretch of the project and was curious of how much I would need to sand to start applying gel coat. Now I know half of the project is the sanding which I’ve felt the pains. Could I apply to the sanded portion or do I NEED to absolutely sand bare and start there?

Sand everything with 40 grit, then follow back over with 80 grit

Are you spraying? If so, I recommend the Duratec 904 additive

40 grit is being done. now I mean bare like absolutely and I’ll be rolling it.

No need to sand the old gel off. You just need a good sanded surface, clean it with wax and grease remover, and you should be good.
