Preserving graph recorder stylus belt??

Greetings fellow floaters! I have a Lowrance X15b graph recorder and trying to find a replacement stylus belt has been no shore picnic.The one I did find was on EBay.I eventually did find one,but since these are no longer being made by Lowrance,what would be the best way to preserve the one I have?? Silicone spray? Armour All??Belt dressing?? I really love the recorder, and would like to hang on to as long as I can.I'm thinking anything along these lines would make the belt slippery and not alow the stylus to track correctly.Any idea's would be greatly apprieciated.
