Yawwwn.

I've skipped your tirade about liberals, since it's about as objective as Fox News covering a NAMBLA parade.

As to your characterization of Conservatives:

OBAY THE LAW.

Nope. Unless you can demonstrate that there's a corresponding belief in liberals that we should not obey laws, then you lose.

Are you saying Ted Kennedy, Barney Frank, William Jefferson, Alcee Hastings, and both William and Hillary Clinton obay the law? These are all present or recently elected pols with very strong Dem and Liberal support. Care to deny this?

As a liberal, I obey laws. I do so far better than most of the conservatives in my neighborhood.

Please stay away from statements that can't be verified independently.

Small government, minimal taxes, tight borders, strong national defence,

Now you're getting somewhere. These are indeed conservative values, which are countered by the liberal values of governmental involvement in social issues, taxation to fund responses to social issues, and a belief that issues at home take precedence over "defending" our country by getting involved in wars overseas. You just might be able to get some of the true differences between liberals and conservatives.

Yes contrary to your earlier statements on this thread, those "lofty high minded reasons" to transferr power to Government flat don't work any better the Karl Marx's ideas you like soooooo well. Cornservatives tend to use critical thinkin' to evaluate the LIBERAL PROPAGANDA n' MATCH THAT TO REAL WORLD RESULTS. Marx's "great ideas" have killed a record number of people, (not very important to Liberals in their quest fer CORNTROL, [ya know the old sayin': ends justify the means]). All your words lead to POWER grabs fer BIG GOVERNMENT at the expense of the individual EXACTLY WHAT the founders of our COUNTRY TRIED TO PROTECT US FROM.

personal responsibility, private charity, (Cornservatives give lots to private charities, Libs do their good works with your tax dollars).

Oops. Sorry, but that doesn't cut it. Soros, the Gates Foundation etc. all show that liberals are just as caught up in private charity. And when it comes to "personal responsibility" you've got to realize you're blowing smoke. Scooter Libby? **** Cheney? Both liberals and conservatives believe in personal responsibility. They simply define it differently.

Yah right personal responsibility, (LIBERAL version): A TAX INCREASE n' POWER transfer to the government!

I'm leaving in a few so I did not have time to do this post justice.

That's OK. There were nine words that were worthwhile.

I will.

Hey, it's been fun, but I'm out of here. I came here because I frequent a site where the liberal to conservative ratio is exactly opposite what we have here. It struck me that the conservatives on the other site were:

Unskilled at argumentative tactics.
Unaware of the most basic laws of logical reasoning and rhetoric.
Convinced that bullying and name-calling were an appropriate way to "win."
Blind to flaws in their own arguments.
Incapable of finding existing flaws in mainstream liberal positions, focusing instead on trivia, fringe groups, and straw man arguments.
Mostly interested in finding someone to back up their ill informed and frequently bigoted or childish ideas.

I was convinced that on that site, it was the lack of support that made the conservatives that way. In fact, I was rather surprised to find that the conservatives here are pretty much the same. Have fun guys. You'll probably think you've won by driving out the competition. However, the way you guys argue is the equivalent of winning a debate by farting so much that the opposition has to leave the room.

It stinks in here.

Beanz and brussels sprouts gits em every time -- hey, whatever it takes. :)
I doubt you'll find a better group of opposites on ANY site, Cheb. You'll note the number of posts some of the staunchest liberals and conservatives have here in this forum, and the fact that when push comes to shove, we are on membership. The REAL koombaya rarely see light of day due to the idealogical chasm, but we still manage to laugh and cry together here. Welcome aboard if you stay, later gator if you never come back.

I guess he is taking his ball and going home. He wants to go play where the libs will surround him in kindness, diversity and tolerance.

That all makes me have greater respect for rolmops, PW, WBW. et al. They withstand the heat and keep on firing;).

Unusual exchange. I find it interesting to watch one spit on your shoe, and then run away to his tribe of like minded automatons proclaiming the most rightous of intent, and superiority of intellect. Seems to be lacking any real conviction, more like playtime for those afflicted with ADD. It is our critics who allow us the greatest insight into our perspectives. Heaven forbid we finish a joust, it is far less painful to just ride away claiming victory. Although in this case it is a victory not decided, at least not to any "thinking" individual.

I would suspect that someone who would ask a question open to interpretation, but looking for a specific answer is someone who has little or no interest in others point of view. (How about asking the meaning of the word Love, or define Religious Faith) I appears to be positioning for "aurguements" sake. It is this arrogance that is the hallmark of liberalism. Superiority defined by those who claim to be superior but not willing to back it up. Clever.
