Hi
I had to take the boat up after hitting a rock, when I open the vent screw for drive oil to check, it came out a bit oil (grey/black-not green as I filled) like it was a pressure inside the drive, I also found some oil in the bellow. I replaced the front seal, and the shiftshaft seal before taking it out.
Can I have done something wrong, or could this be because off the rock I hit, and the drive went up at 3000rpm.
The only thing I can think off that can make pressure is the exhaust.
Regards
Affa

Thanks Bondo!
What causes the heat?
I had the U-joints out when I replaced the front seal, and set the right torque on the bearings,
Could it be the leak of oil into the bellows, or can that leak be because of the heat?
Regards
Affa

I used syntetic oil in the drive for the first time this season, but that shouldnt make more heat?
I was wondering if the bearings could get bad when I hit the rock?
Regards
Affa

Hi again
I took the boat home and started it on muffs, and it was a terrible sound from the out drive, like a sirene. When I drove the boat 15 min before I took it up, the top of the drive was very hot almost get burned, Im wondering how much Ill need to replace inside, bearings, gears u-joints?
Regards
Affa

Hi Bondo
Yes Im afraid it is, Ill open it up when I get home from work today.
I believe it must be the gears, I was wondering if I could change to 1:98 ratio if I have to replace the gears since that what its supposed to be on a 3,0L, mine is 1:84 today.
Affa
