just bought a johnson cd 14 in really good shape, set it up to gravity feed fuel (the pressure tank has really old gas.......have to dispose of it in a enviro friendly way).
any way with the motor running perfectly....(small drip of fuel from the float bowl gasket) i notice that its spitting a little bit of fuel from the pressure line on the crankcase?
is this normal.....or a sign of a bigger problem?

thanks for any insight!

Replace the fuel/air lines on the motor. Sounds like you need a carb rebuild also.

i should have been a bit clearer with my question. the air line isnt connected to anything ie hanging from engine open ended. with the motor running fine (gravity feed for fuel) a small amount of fuel drips from the air line. is this normal?

So you're saying the air line which normally runs to the gas tank? Yes, you'll probably see a bit of gas/oil in that line.

yes, its the air line that would run back to the fuel tank. if i want to convert to a single line with fuel pump, will this small amount of fuel/oil cause internal problems with the pump??

thanks

That's not the connection for a fuel pump. I believe on a conversion that line gets plugged, but maybe someone else can comment on that. What's wrong with your pressure tank?

i think that is the connection for a pump, but modifications need to be done deeper in the intake.....so you get a pressure and vacuum pulse to work the diaphragm in the pump? (more insight needed?) the pressure tank seems fine, im just a bit leary about having fuel under pressure and points sparking! lol if i use the pressure tank that little bit of fuel will just get returned, if i convert i have concerns about it damaging a fuel pump. with that being said.....lotsa people have done the conversion......but have any had problems because of this???
would like to hear from any converts!!

thanks
