Pressure Tank Question

I have an old pressure tank that I bought a few weeks ago. I was wondering if there is supposed to be some kind of gasket for the fill cap to set against when its screwed down all the way? It looks like it should have something there but I'm not sure. Any help would be great.

Yep, there was a rubber gasket formed to fit the recess in the top of the cap. There is a large flat washer & screw that holds it and the retainer chain in place. Might be able to make a new one out of inner tube rubber.
