A local store has a "Black Cat" electric pressure washer on sale for $125.
Rated at 1800 psi and 2.1 gpm. 13 amp draw with a ground fault interrupter included in the cord.
Would this unit have enough power to remove the several years accumulation of fresh water growth from my pontoons? It will cost 1/2 of that to rent one so I thought I might go ahead and buy.

Charles

Re: Pressure Washer?

I have a similar unit and it does a fair job with 1 season of growth treated with bottom cleaner.I dont think it will have enough guts for several years of growth.the only shot you have with that pressure washer is if you treat the bottom the moment you take it out of the water while it is still wet and then give it a blast before it dries. Then maybe. It really depends on how much growth you have.Charlie

Re: Pressure Washer?

I just got a 2000 PSI Craftsman gas washer.
Does a great job on the drive and sidwalks.

Tried it on the boat washes it very nicly but....
doesn't take the hull stains off.
It would do a good job on grass like growth is it wasn't dried on.

You shouldn't use a hull wash in it only a pressure washer soap and that don't get the stain.

I bought a Cobia 16' a few years ago that was covered in barnacles got them all off with a 5000 PSI rented washer but I thnk this 2000 would have done it just taken longer.

BTW they are great for scaleing fish
Just take and tack the head to a board and run the pressure stream against the scales.
