Why not an electric motor with a CAT Pump?

I have a Porter Cable with a Honda Engine (I only have Honda engines). 10 years old, fires up first time every time.

Re: Pressure washers.

FYI - Black & Decker bought Porter Cable and Delta from Pentair a couple of years ago. The PC PW's were converted over to DeWalt but they still sell PC PW's if you want to pay for the name. All of them are Honda engines so just look for the models with the Cat pumps.

You can get the same thing without electric start at Home Depot for much less. You just have to learn the trick of pulling the trigger before you pull the rope..

PC does still make a small electric also but that's not a Cat pump and they wear out pretty quick. Biggest problem is with keeping the wheels on them. Poor engineering.

Yep, you beat me to saying it....I will never buy another Briggs powered piece of equipment if a Honda one is available. I bought both a Honda powered pressure washer and push mower in the past couple of years. Each one of them starts with one pull of the cord....One very easy pull at that....They are a good bit quieter than the Briggs powered pieces of equipment they replaced.

Re: Pressure washers.

I have a 6 hp honda pull start.... ditto on squeezing the handle on the wand is a must while starting. It rope starts easily. IMHO, if one wasn't able to easily rope start it, they probably wouldn't enjoy using it b/c of the strength needed to hold the wand. Another way to say that is, unless they have the strength to pull start it, they probably don't want to bother trying to use it... they won't have fun.

Re: Pressure washers.

Thank you all for your help I beleive that we have made the decision on what to buy. There is nothing more true than a good honda engine. I have a weed wacker and push mower that are 1 pull wonders.

Thanks again,

Adam

Re: Pressure washers.

Depending on the cost of your utilities a pressure washer could be a bad idea.. I had one and used it to clean our porches and sides and went over $140 over my usual water bill. Prior to this i was used to having a well and not being Ra*ed by the city.

Good thing you didn't use a garden hose your bill would be double that. Pressure washers use water far more efficently than using a hose and spray nozzle. However, once people see what they can do, it's hard to resist washing down the whole neighborhood.

Re: Pressure washers.

We have made a good purchase we think. We bought one from Sears. It has a Briggs motor but, from our eyes this is a good investment.

They had a returned one that carries full warrenty. We did purchase the MA to go along with it. So all in all we spent $384 with tax and the MA that takes care of it for 2 years.

Thanks for your help,
Adam

Re: Pressure washers.

I've been doing a little reading on pressure washers and thinking about getting one. I figured the choice was simple... Find one with a Honda engine. Well, I started reading reviews on the Husky washers Home Depot sells. They all raved about the Honda engines but pump failure was very common after only a few uses.

What's a good 2500 psi pressure washer with a Honda engine AND a good pump on it?

Mine is a BE washer with 6 hp honda... it's what HD was selling up here a couple years ago (maybe still?)... I don't know about reviews, but mine has been problem free.

Re: Pressure washers.

I had a Karcher 5 hp 1600 psi that lasted nearly 8 years before the seals on the pump gave out. Picked up the Honda BlackMax 6 hp 2600 psi from Sam's Club. They higher psi really make short work of cleaning the pool deck and the Honda engine starts easily.
