Would anyone know the correct material to repair the primer diaphram on the older 2line fuel tanks? The thickness is 1/32 or 0.032. Is it n-butyl material? Mc Master carr carries materils I want to be sure I order the right stuff. thanks Dom

Do you have a number of tanks to do? While you can certainly do it this way it's much easier to just order the repair kit from somewhere like laingsoutboards.com. It includes the diaphragm, the cork main housing gasket, the bolt seals and the connector orings. Granted it is $25 but to me it's worth it. It would be better I think if it contained the gas cap seal and the gas gauge sight glass gasket but they don't. Part # for the gas cap seal is 301835. Part # for the sight glass seal is 302571. If I'm not mistaken they are both still available from BRP.

But as far as your original question, sorry I have no idea what they're made of.

Cheers................Todd

n-butyl probably would work, but the originals weren't that thick. It is a whole lot easier to just buy a new diaphragm than to try to find the right material and make your own. If it were a case of un-availability of the originals, that would be a case for making your own. But they are available. Depending on what year the tank is, 302563 diaphragm for the tanks with metal push button is $5 from an Evinrude dealer.
