Prestolite vs Mando Alternator OMC Cobra

Other than the terminal labels ( for example instead of G for ground, Mando has E for earth), what is the difference between these two alternators? Is there anything internally that is different? Output, ect?
I know the Mando alt I have is a 55 amp but from what I had researched the older Presolite ( the part number has worn off the original, so I only know its a Presolite), I think the old was was 51 amps.

BTW, someone else bought me the Mando. Now some places say that this model of Mando (55 amp) is a replacement for the 51 amp Prestolite.
I would have gotten a Presolite, but the guys at the Marine place said they were the same. I'm not so sure now and need to know before it gets hooked up. Thanks!

They should work exactly the same. Which way are you switching? From Mando to Prestolite or the other way. If your Cobra has an electric fuel pump, the alternator has to have an L2 terminal which drives the fuel pump relay. The Mando has that. Also, if you have a carb'd motor, there is usually an AC terminal which drives the choke heater..

Thanks for helping me out with this. Going from Prestolite to Mando. And yes, it does have a carb and according the manual, the AC terminal ( called P on the Mando) does have a wire that goes to the choke. It is a purple with white stripe wire.
Yes it has an electric fuel pump, but there is no wire for the relay that connects directly to the alternator. There was not a L2 ternimal on the old Prestolite, so that wire must go through some other connection that joins to one of the other wires that goes to the alternator.
I did post a question on my first thread in this forum about the ground. The old alternator grounded on the clamp. No ground wire. Found out by looking in the OMC manual. Do I need to run a ground wire on this Mando or will it ground like the Prestolite?
