Hi everyone, Can I plug all the holes and pressure test a 350 Chev. I purchased boat an motor used trashed out the boat and kept the powertrain to replace my O M C.
I haven't run a compression test yet that will probably be first. The hour meter said 450 but who knows.

The pressure test would tell me about the block and heads for cracks. Motor has fresh clean clear oil so who knows what to make of it until I pull the pan.

Yes, you can pressure test the block..

BTW, the 898 is a 305.

Why are you pulling the pan? Are there any signs? I know it has fresh oil, but I would do a compression test, but if the engine chcks out fine, I wouldn't be too excited.

Thanks, I do the compression test and go from there. Think the timing chain and gear are ok to leave? I must of looked it up wrong on the 305 , never liked them much but motor and drive came out of same size boat with a similar hull. Had a 351 on the OMC.
