Presure too high using muffs

Heys guys can you tell me what can happen if the water pressure is too high while my muffs are connected.
Reason I ask is a few days ago when I went to start the motor I noticed water coming out the exaust.
Not through the prop but further up through the two ports just below the cover at the back.
Guess I should read my manual for better terminology.
I'm sure you all know what I mean.
Did I get water in the upper area?
What does fuel/oil mixed with water look like.
Had some whitish substance that smelt like gas coming out the front of my bottom carb. Is this water mixing with gas? Probably not good if it is.

Thanks in advance.

If you run on muffs with too high pressure.

Its possible to cause leaks .

Water does come out the two ports , but usually not alot until higher , rpm's

Im not sure on the white stuff.

It could be watery fuel , I guess.

I've had fuel come out carbs before.

Not good either but, just required a rebuild of carbs.

Never had white stuff.

Is there anyway water has got into your fuel ?

Or something leaking where it could get sucked into carbs ?

Like I said , I haven't seen this before, so I'm Just guessing.

As far as, the white stuff.

If you have water coming out the top port's without the engine running, the thermostat's are stuck open, or missing. Depending on where you are located, city water pressure can run quite high, but those muff's lose a lot of pressure around the cup's. When I run my engine on muff's, it never show's as high a pressure on the guage as when running full throttle on the water. The water you are see'ing in the carb throat is probably from condensation. At full throttle the carb's can have quite a refrigeration effect. On certain day's you can see water vapor form all over them.

.

One thing that hasnt been mentioned is that high water pressure can cause the muffs to "push" themselves off of the intakes and even straight off the motor.

I watch mine like a hawk.....if the muffs start to slip off of the intake screens, then the water pump can lose its prime and you wont be able to get water up to the engine when that is happening.

Not knowing what motor we are talking about I am going to guess the two holes your are talking of are the t-stats they will only open and blow water when the engine warms. If water is coming out of them before that the t-stat is stuck open.

Re: Presure too high using muffs

Thanks for the info guys.
One more thing
I have done the kits on all 3 carbs (1883 70hp Johnson)
Until now I have had muffs on.
Now I know the engine will run much better in a tank or the lake. Back pressure on the exhaust and all.
My question is in the tank now my engine has never idled better than it is now. It just purrs at about 800rpms
It will drop to about 650 700 in gear. Anyway I'm seeing fuel spitting out inside the top carb more than the other 2.
Should I see gas inside the throttle chamber at idle or should it be dry. I replaced floats needles and seats and made sure floats were level with the carb body when inverted. I never did the welch plugs just because the insides of these carbs looked brand new.
Any ideas

Thanks in advance
