Hi all, bare wit me if you will. i have a 95 4.3lx. 9600S carb. electric pump. The motor appears to be the vortec with the valve covers the way they are stamped with vortec and the intake design. I need someone to jus turn me in the right direction if im not goin that way.lol My problem is i did all the summerization needed except for dist cap and rotor. I changed my oil last year during winterization and this spring. i have run it one weekend for ab 3 or 4 hours. goin down the lake sittin at a spot for ab an hour or two and coming back. did that 2 days. My engine oil smells like fuel. and shows more oil on the dipstick than needs to be on there. like an 1/8th to a 1/4 to high.
now with that being said.... after i take it out and go to start it agian...it takes a few min. yesterday i checked the carb to see if any fuel was in it. took the cable off and looked down into the carb and seen from the left front sqirter (looking into the carb from the front) was barely trickeling as i pumped it.. took the carb top off and hardly any gas (less than a 1/8 inch) in the right side an not too much more in the left side. there were also 3 plugs that showed to be fuel fouled.
with all that being said i have done alot of readin on the weber style carbs that i have... should i go ahead and rebuild this carb wit a edl- rebuild kit for performer carbs and the 1485 kit for the 4.3, change the oil and see if that fixes it? or is there anyother advice, thanks ahead for takin time to read this.
