I have recently come into possession of a Johnson Seahorse 10 hp outboard motor. It is white and red or sorta red. It is in perfect condition and has only been used about 2 hours. I was told it was it was bought brand new in 1965. The motor still looks like it came off the showroom floor. I dont need it because it is too much motor for my small 12 foot aluminum fishing boat so I am looking to sell it. What is a good price to sell a motor like that?

An old motor like that is not worth much. Why do you think you can't use it on your 12' tinnie? I have a similar engine on 12'er and it takes me up the Snake River just fine, loaded with dekes and fatboys. ;)

if its in as good of condition as you say, you may get a collector interested in it and who knows what it will go for. but like shortly says, most 12' tinnies are rated to 10hp

Re: Price of motor

The motor ratings that are assigned to boats are calculated ratings that satisfy government regulations. Manufacturers post these ratings on their boats to keep their liability attornies happy. As long as the weight of this motor is not too great for the aft section of your boat it should be safe to use it.
