should the primer bulb get solid on a 94 johnson when you pump it up?

I can pump and pump and it never gets hard, I hear air and fuel but I can just keep pumping.

Re: primer bulb.

The bulb should get hard. Sounds like a bad check valve in there.

Re: primer bulb.

I have two of the aftermarket hoses from Wallyworld (twin tanks) and neither one of them ever gets firm. As you said, you could pump them all day. In fact you have to hold them with the outlet end pointing upward to get them to pump at all. It's crummy valves in the bulb. There's nothing wrong with the motor, doesn't flood and runs and idles perfect.

I made the same mistake as F_R and bought a spare hose from Wal Mart. Used it once or twice and never could get it to pump up hard.

But no matter which bulb you use, it does seem to help to have the outlet pointing up....
