Hello comrades,

We're painting the dash of our boat tomorrow, newly epoxied wood. Removing blush + scuff with 220. The usual.

Question is can you shoot a base primer coat, and then 2 coats of alkyd enamel + hardener the same day?

8 am primer, 3 pm first coat, 7pm second coat?

100F. 35% humidity.

Thanks!

You can do the next coat as soon as the paint flashes. An hour is way more time than needed if your not sanding between coats.
8 am primer 9 am first coat 10 am final coat.

We're still going for the "grainy" wood look consistent with the rest of the boat so sanding is forbidden. Kidding.

Shooting from HVLP so by the time we're done painting 1 thing it'll probably be time to rotate to the top coat!

Don't paint in direct sunlight Use a slow reducer when temps are that high Actually you should paint early early in the morning if temps are over 95

Alrighty the paint went on super well and it's pretty rock hard this morning. We'll see if it lasts over time but so far no issues (like being able to dig your finger nail in it)

We followed your advice and went with Majic paint ;)

Although we are using her camoflauge matte paint so it'll scratch super easy :/ can't have the gleam from a duck boat!
