Went through and cleaned the carb, motor runs good now, wouldn't run without the primer pulled out before. but now its leaking fuel out of the small hole or overflow hole on the carb primer area, this its an 86 or 87 25hp XD, 6458797, no choke, just primer lever. Why is it leaking?? Thanks for any help. pwilke

You need to replace the primer diaphragm. You should ave ordered a carb kit with the fuel pump and primer diaphragm. Did you make sure the check ball is not jammed in the spring under the primer?

Would adjusting the fuel bowl float to much one way cause this? Reason I ask is the primer wasn't leaking before and was working ok so I didn't pull it open but thought the bowl float was closing to soon so I adjusted it being that the motor seemed starved for fuel.

No, I dont know why you would have adjusted the float. You may have a bad fuel pump diaphragm also. Which is why it is important to service those correctly with a quality kit.

Motor wasnt getting enough fuel (only running choked) now runs good without choke on, it looked like the float arm was adjusted so high it was cutting off fuel before the bowl could get enough gas. Just this primer box overflow leak now..
Thanks again

It ran good with the choke on because the main carb jet was plugged. The primer on that motor bypasses the carb and puts fuel directly into the intake. Put the float back where it was.
