150 hp 1992-Evinrude

What is the correct position of the RED Primer Solenoid Valve lever?

Twin engines, one has the valve lever straight down-vertical and the port engine is at 90°-horizontal.

In the manual it explains how to “service the solenoid” but I don’t see where the valve should be set for proper operation. One or both of the current settings must be wrong :(

Thanks,

Mike

Folded straight down (parallel to the solonoid body) for normal starting.

At 90 degrees for manual starting/priming.

Thanks for the quick reply. :)

I’m on my way reset them.

Does that mean to manually operate the primer you could place the lever in the horizontal position start the engine and then return to vertical?

Mike

Re: Primer Valve position?

If the priming solenoid fails, you can turn the lever so that it's perpendicular to the solenoid body and pump the priming bulb. This manually primes the engine. Once primed and started, move the lever back to its auto priming position. Be careful not to flood.

c/6
Hooty
