I have a 1995 yamaha pro v 150, runs excellent except for a small hairline crack in the lower unit about 3/4 to 1 inch long which appears to be on the surface where the prop sits inside the lower unit, right where the round housing goes into the straight vertical part of the lower unit
[good description eh?]
My question is is this thing fu----?
Can I get by for this year?
Is this repairable, by welding this casing?
Or should I look for a new core for this?

I think it happened when my dock line tangled around the prop when I bought the boat.

Thanks Guys

Re: Pro V 150 Lower Unit Dilemma

If it's only in the exhaust region of the LU, easy to weld, etc. Take off the prop and measure the cavity depth then the crack from the aft edge. If there's room, drill a small stop hole at the end of the crack and fill with Marine Tex, otherwise get it welded by someone familiar with aluminum welding.
