have an early 80 pro150v. the oil pump was not working. Then when I turned on light switch it started pumping and would not stop. Overflowing. Fixed the light issue. Now when I turn the key to on, it starts hmmmmiinnnggg-pumping and won't stop. Overflowing. And is the cap on oil tank suppose to come off so easy.

Is there a fuse or ground somewhere. Or is this just the sensor in oil tank gone bad. Old owner says boat always made noise when key was turned on but it would stop.

I have no clue. Just got the boat. It ran two weeks ago without any problems.

thanks for any and all help.

its common. test the engine float as per the sevice maanual. if the float tests good replace the control module. stand by for the sticker shock on the module.
someplace on this forum is a bass and wallye magazine test procedure that works well. low battery voltage will trigger a pump on mode as well.

That's the oil control module located by the reserve tank inside the motor. I had the same problem. Very expensive, try looking on Ebay or here
http://www.hardcoremarine.com/
for a used one.
