So I am replacing the stringer and floor system on a 1993 crownline. I got to thinking about something. I will try to explain..when you look at a boat, esp the bottom it goes pretty deep, when you remove the floor and get to the hull area its not so deep. What is the inner cavaity part of the boat called? and what is there? must be just open space...because when a person leaves the plug out it will fill the ski storage dept. So how thick then it the outer "hull" part of the boat..ie the part that actually sits in the water?

There is no inner cavity, when you remove the floor what you see is the inside surface of the hull. Thin would be 3/16" thick around 1/2".

.....and the only dumb question is the one that remains unasked.

Re: Probably a silly and dumb question

Maybe I worded my question wrong but the way I look at it there must be some sort of inner cavity. For example my bilge area is way below the level of the inner hull area, as is the storage compartment where my skis go. All of that area is below the surface of where my stringers attach to the hull. My stringers are only about 3-4" tall. I can stand on the surface of my my stringers attach and its not the depth of the boat by far.

Post some pics. This layout is something I would like to see. And we can give you better answers when pics are posted.

If you're saying the boat in that link looks just like yours, then there is no inner cavity, the stringers are directly on the hull.

Ok ya after looking again at it last night I could see how on the sides there it could be, but there must be a channel or something in the middle that runs under the fuel tank and also where the ski storage ara drains into. That ski storage area does a could of holes drilled into it so water can drain out and then make its way to the bilge area at the rear of the boat. Sound right?
