probaly and easy question

i bought a 1998 triton but they left it uncovered and it has a film where the sun beat down on it and it wont come off for anything is there a wax or something that would take it off i heard deoxidizer but i just wanted to get someones opinion first. thanks

I bought a bottle of fiberglass cleaner wax (deoxidizer) and fiberglass wax at wal-mart for my 70's ebbtide tri-hull and it did wonders so in your case it would probably work pretty good as well.

When all else fails, you can just wet sand the gelcoat with some fine wet dry sandpaper and rebuff it. Gel coat is very forgiving when it comes to reviving it.

3M makes a product called Finesse-It. It will clean it up and shine it up really well provided the gel coat isn't damaged. Just be careful not to apply too much pressure or you will take the gel coat off.

IMO - Wet sand...Polish...Wax

You want to do a light wet sand with a fine grit (1000) then polish and finish with a good marine wax. Wet sanding allows you to cut the oxidation and other contaminates that otherwsie will blend into the gelcoat for a hazy effect. Additionally, you want to be careful when polishing that you don't burn the getcoat. As for polishes, I've heard 3M makes good compounds and some swear by Aqua-Buff. Recommend doing a search on "polishing".
