Problem going from reverse to neutral

I have a 93 Bayliner Capri Mercruiser Alpha One 3.0L. Boat shifts from forward to neutral with no problem but when i'm in reverse and go to neutral, it doesn't kick out of reverse. I have to go to forward and then back to neutral to kick it out of reverse. Simple fix or no? Thanks!

Ayuh,.... Either the interupter switch, or the lower shift cable is Failing...
My guess is the cable is causing the issue...
