Hi ever one. I have a problem. A friend of mine ask me too look at this boat they pick up his dad and him. The boat is a 1985 Bayliner 22ft cuddy cabin. It has a volvo penta outdrive on it. But the engine I just don't know ?. It does not look like a volvo penta engine. It don't even say it on the top of the cover. And the only numbers on it are eather MO6254RB or MD6254RB. Also found these numbers 909451. The engine is a 4cyl what looks like a single barrel carb. That says on it rockchester. I am not very familiar with volvo penta engines. I do know what there out drive and most of there engines look like but this don't look like one. The engine is blue in color. It looks more like a chevy. Maybe ford.? Also why I need to know is the engine runs great as long as you run a wire from the coil to the battery. Its a purple wire. But if you try started it from the key switch it starts up but won't stay runing. There is 3 wires on the coil. and one is a purple wire about 2ft with a eyelite at the end and it is not attach to nothing. But when they put it direct on the battery the engine runs fine.? So I can't even begin any thing untill I know what typ engine it has. And then I can look up the wire dirgram on it. So Please if anyone can help please do. Like I said 1985 bayliner 22ft cuddy.
