Hey guys, I have a very hard steer to port and my skeg was broke and bent a little.Just got the hydrofoil+skeggard in for my boat (1995 Quest 187 w/115 evinrude also '95 model)..In order to install the foil I will have to drill through the cav plate and the trim tab.. Just Don't seem like a good idea to me.Does anyone know if on this year rude you are supposed to remove the trim tab or should I send back the foil.Just finished installing the skeggard-hopefully that will help the hard steering to port.Hope to go out this weekend,if possible.I work for the phone company, so I never know when I'll get free.Ma Bell holds al the cards on that..Thanks

Re: Problem w/stingray install

The foil isnt likely to help your hard steering to port and it may make it worse.Check your trim tab is adjusted to counteract prop steer(torque)
If it appears erroded replace it.
Check to be sure the Antivent (cav)plate is about even with the bottom of the boat.If too low it could exacerbate steering problems.I had very good luck with 2 different boats and Doelfins but Not for your problem and fins should be considered a last ditch solution after trying all else.

Thanks for the info,Spike.I'll check that out when I get home today.I think I'll wait and see if the skeggard helps my problem before I install the hydrofoil anyway.Plan on going out Sunday.
