problem wiring slave selenoid on 1989 Alpha stern drive -3 litre engine

Changed slave selenoid because engine would not turn over. If I wire to hot starter cable and selenoid small terminal yellow- red stripe it turns and will start. So it won't turn over using key. "Help" By the way # 3 wire in my pin connector broke apart. There could be more? Any ideas? Thx

You need to get a test light and test the small yellow/red on the boost solenoid while someone turns the key.

Test as Kenny mentioned, this tests the neutral safety switch and the key switch
