problem with 115 johnson

i have a 1997 115 spiecal johnson v4 that loses power when ran at 4000 rpm or greater below 4000 runs fine i replaced the plugs, wires, blub, fuel filter,and fittings at the motor which still seem loose. not sure if it is suppose to be that way are not. do fuel pumps go bad is the ? :eek:

Sounds like a fuel restriction or air leak and the loose fittings would be the first thing to check. Which fittings are loose and no they shouldn't be. Don't keep running the engine until you get this fixed-a lean condition will kill your cylinders and your next post will be about cylinder honing.

the fitting that is loose is where the fuel line connects the the motor and i was just out there playing with the fuel pump and the face plate that has the screw to tighten it down does not seat properly and will not tighten to where it will not move or should i get out the BIG screwdriver<br /> :confused: i was thinking i should wrap the loose fitting with sarin wrap one at a time to figure out which one is sucking air

If you have the quick disconnect fuel line connectors forget the screwdriver and plastic wrap. Replace the small "O" rings inside the connectors.

I replaced the whole connector not just the "o" ring I guess next the fuel hoses them self<br /> :p
