Mine looks like the top brass bushings is missing.

The bushing I pictured is the new style. It improves the sealing.

Thanks, I will pickup the newer style and get them replaced. Also what prevents water from coming in the hole the shift cable goes through since the shift cable bellow crimp around the cable shealth. Must be orings or bushings in there behind the 9/16 nut.

How do I remove the shift shaft bushing to replace with newer style? Looks like I would need to put in wood screw into the old one and turn it until the screw catches the bushing. There isn't any slots on it to use a screw driver it guess I could put some in it. The rubber oring on the exhaust side was pretty bad shape.

Thanks,
PF

There is a special tool (pretty cheap online) that you use to remove the shift-shaft bushing.

The shift shaft bushings for Alpha One Gen 1 Bell Housing are pushing in type. Part # 23-805041A2 so I will be using sockets and long screw to pull the old one out and use it to press the new one in.
I learned in this thread

Sorry, I thought we were talking about the lower shift shaft, not upper.
