problem with lean/rich knob

I have read all the info. on how to adjust the low speed lean/rich knob, my only problem is that mine doesn't turn that much. I had a new one put in over the winter, and I was going to set it just like the info here say to, but from gently seated it will only turn 1.25 turns until it stops going the other way. I am concerned because I know running too lean could starve it or burn something up. It seems to run good and starts on the first or second pull. How do I know if it is adjusted correctly??

Chris: We need the model number, or year, and horse power. Is this an older engine with a locking screw thru the center of the adjusting knob?

take the screw out of the center of the knobs. remove knobs. use pliers to make major adjustments. the knob have shoulders on them so that you can only make minor adjustments. you can make preliminary adjustments on muffs on in a tank, but final adjustment need to be made running on the water. good luck..if you haven't read Joe Reeves post on adjusting idle it is highly recommended. everthing you need to know.

So when I took it in for a tune up and they put a new knob on they sort of locked it in place, so it only has minor adjustments?
