Re: problem with shifter

Something Wasn't in Forward when you did the Install.........

My Guess is the Propshaft lost tension on it,+ it went together in Neutral instead of Forward.................

Re: problem with shifter

When I incorrectly removed my drive I bent one of the ears on the intermediate shift shaft which affected my gear selection.
I staightened the ear out and it worked fine.

Re: problem with shifter

ok, the p[roblem is that the shift cable isnt pushing the slector enough to push it into fwd, is there anyway to "shorten" the cable through adjustments? my linkage is already set correct

Re: problem with shifter

did you remove the shaft or just the bushing when you changed it.if just the bushing, then you`ll have to drop the unit again.something was not in fwd or slipped out of fwd during the install.if the shaft was pulled, something may be dislodged in the lower unit

Re: problem with shifter

the shift shaft is basically stuck in the lower unit. I can manually turn it into fwd and reverses on the lower unit its just that for some reason when i do it with the cables it doesnt wanna work right, my right side engine turns very easy into gear, i can do it with my fingers on the lower unit but when i try the right side it isery stiff and i need plyers. is this normal?

Re: problem with shifter

Shouldn`t be needing pliers to turn anything on the drive.
pull the whole drive and try to move the shoe. should be very easy to move into fwd and rev.looking at it from the top fwd 1200
neu 1100
rev 1000
if you don`t have that ,the splined shift is in the wrong position.
drop an email ,might have some pics available
