Re: Problem

I unhooked the "LOW OIL" sensor at the 3 wire plug and when I turned the key on the alarm did not go off. Why not? Also just wondering where the "NO OIL" sensor is located on the motor. Because neither one of these lights/alarms went off.

Re: Problem

All of the alarms including the overheat are triggered by grounding the tan wire that runs to the horn. When you disconnect the plugs as part of converting to premix, you remove the ability to ground the circuit from that part of the system.

You just want to be sure that(1) the temperature switch is still connected to the tan wire, and (2) that grounding the tan wire to the block will still sound the horn as a test (with the key on of course) .

Re: Problem

I will check that when I get home but i was still wondering about the sensor for "no oil". Where is it located and why is it still working or is it inside the motor?

Re: Problem

Not too clear on checking the water temp sensor. Can you tell me exactly how to check it. I think I found where it goes in the motor.

Re: Problem

The temp sensor is a switch that goes to ground when the engine overheats. It is either on or off. They virtually never fail.

The horns and wiring, on the other hand, fail a lot. What you want to test is the horn and the tan wire leading to it from the switch. Ground the control side of the wire to the engine block. If the horn sounds, forget about it!

If you decide to check the switch, you have to remove it, create a circuit, heat it in oil to about 220 degrees F. and see if it closes the circuit.

Re: Problem

My alarm and lights come on everytime I turn the key on so I guess they work.
