Hi,

I have a Solex carb that I rebuilt. The problem thatI'm having is the float is not shuting off the NeedleShut Vaule when it's in idle for 40 seconds.

After 40 seconds, the Float Bowl Cover has a ramp where the gas starts to come out and goes down tha barrel. The Engine is burning the fuel to rich. I tried adjusting the Float to close the shut value but that isn't working. Any ides why the value will not shut. The Boat is a Bayliner with a AQ125 B Engine. 4 CYLN. 1985

I don't know what the problem is as your carb is very simple. You never bend your float on a Solex carb. I need to know whose kit you put inside the carb. Have you changed the fuel pump? I hope you did not use an automotive pump. Automotive and marine are different. Also check fuel system for water. If you need more help you can call me at 1-800-949-2189

Hi,

Thanks for the tip. I got me a new repair kit from Volvo for the Carb. I put in the new float and still was having some problems. I put in the old Shut Value and it worked fine. The new shut Value was sticking. I have no clue why. The important thing it's working.

Thanks

Wrong forum, VP. Hijacking a 7 year old thread is not even a slightly good way to get attention.

Go to the correct forum and start a new thread.
