Re: Problems connecting with uboats

Brothers (and sisters) down under!

I've always wanted to open up a conversation that way! ;) I am opening up a can of worms but here it is...the official response from iboats is the following:

Yes, we are blocking huge networks covering Australia and New Zealand. The reason? Unfortunately, your networks are also shared with China and their neighbors. When we open ourselves up to them our servers just get completely bombarded with hacker attacks and denial of service attacks. That's the price you pay when you get big enough. Since we get very little business from your area of the world we had to make the decision to just block the networks and lose the sales. That is less painful that be bombarded with attacks 24 hours a day. We would love to open up completely to our friends down under but our hands are tied. We are not happy about it either! If anyone can give us a good work around solution we are all ears. Thanks and we hope you can somehow get through!

Yes, I can see your point.
That does make sence.
I use the internet quite a bit and have never had this problem with any other site.
Is iboats an attractive site to hackers etc?
Must be. Wonder why?
If not, then how do all the other millions of sites get on?
To get connected, every time I just keep clicking on iboats forum over and over again, and sooner or later I get connected. THEN, sometimes that won't work for a few weeks.

Anyway, THANKS VERY MUCH FOR KEEPING US INFORMED.
Cheers
Phillip
